President's Message

What BP is up to in 2015 and How to Make the Most of It
President: Joe Wingard

BP has changed a lot in the last year, more is coming and you'll want to be sure you take advantage of it. We opened three new chapters in 2014 - Santa Monica, Long Beach and Warner Center - and more are planned for 2015. If you have the chance, visit more chapter meetings and meet some new people. It's good for business.

We started a quarterly e-Newsletter, the first ever for BP, and this year it will be published bimonthly. Want more visibility for your business? Submit a BP testimonial! We publish all testimonials; not all at once, but we get to everything.

We delivered the first ever "BP Networking Guide" for members. It has lots of useful tips for sharpening your networking skills, and the better you are at networking the more business referrals you will get. Dr. Bill Saleebey started leading networking workshops at BP Chapter meetings, and he'll do more in 2015. Take advantage of these opportunities.

What about those BP dues? Sure, they went up a bit. Growing an organization and delivering more value to members takes resources. And yet, BP has a stellar reputation and remains the least expensive professional networking organization. Watch for even more BP events coming this year!

And how about those UCLA Alumni Association dues? If you're paying your Association dues annually, you will save $55 a year starting July 1st since a basic membership will be free for all UCLA graduates and certificate holders from Anderson and Extension. Already a "Life Member" of the Association? You will automatically be enrolled at the higher-benefit "Blue Member" level, you will keep all of your benefits and get some new ones.

We are very excited about what BP is doing, to grow, deliver more value to our members, and to have some fun in the process. Remember, Bruins doing business with Bruins is good business!

Mission Statement

The mission of Bruin Professionals ('BP') is to assemble a diverse group of UCLA Alumni who are well established in a profession or business and are willing to make a commitment to attend BP meetings. BP Members will have the opportunity through an organized format to develop relationships and expand their business activities by sharing referrals, resources, information, ideas and advice. BP will develop Bruin synergy and establish a venue through which Professional Alumni can become actively associated with UCLA and promote new business leads.
